Haaave you met Karain + Derrick? If you haven’t, let me introduce them to you as the most chillest and cutest couple ever.
I always advise my brides to schedule a trial on the same day as their engagement shoot. It not only kills two birds with one stone, but you can see how the makeup translates through your photographer’s lens and if tweaks need to be made on your big day!
Karain followed suit and scheduled her trial on the same day as her engagement shoot with the Sandy Tam. Karain pretty much gave me free reign with her makeup, asking for something natural as she doesn’t wear makeup on a regular basis. We decided to amp things up a bit by shaping her brows, giving her a soft smokey eye, and some false lashes.
There are three things that made this trial one of the most interesting ones I’ve had to date:
(1) Being an academic and curious individual, Derrick periodically came over to see what I was doing. I offered him to be my assistant on the day of their wedding but I have yet to receive a response….
(2) Derrick was involved in every step in designing Karain’s custom made engagement ring. He actually taught me that diamonds go beyond the 4Cs and starting listing off other characteristics.
(3) Karain admittedly said she tried to find me on Facebook (don’t judge…we all creep on one another!) and found that we had mutual friends! Such a small world!
