Despite being on social media, I’m actually a pretty private person and don’t publicize too much about my personal life as I’m super protective of those around me.  Today, we are switching gears a bit and giving you a glimpse of a main supporter in my life, my Mom.

My Mom is what you call a SUPER MOM.  She raised three daughters and two grandchildren along with running multiple entrepreneurial ventures and finding time to learn new instruments and dance styles.  She has constantly supported me in every extracurricular activity I wanted to pursue.

My relationship with my Mom wasn’t always the closest.  Growing up, she was busy with her ventures that I would only occasionally see her.  As a result, we didn’t really develop much of an emotional relationship.  Don’t get me wrong, she was always there taking me to lessons or allowing me to help her at work.  But that was really it…just doing tasks together.  It wasn’t until my last year of high school and during University that we really connected and our relationship blossomed.  I went through a lot of issues during these times and my Mom was always there.  She really helped guide me through each of my issues and always let me see the silver lining.  Having that positive mentality has really shaped the person that I am today and really be grateful at any opportunity that has come my way.  To this day, I still face challenges and she’s always the first person I go to.

Working full-time and doing makeup freelance, it means I work 6-7 days a week and don’t have time much time to spend with my Mom.  Last year for Christmas, I had purchase a gift certificate for a two-hour private lesson with Sharon from Bloom Cake Co. to learn how to decorate cupcakes.  This past March, I attended Puzzle Creation‘s 2nd Annual Oscara Charity Party where I bid & won a portrait session with Heidi from Heidi Lau Photography. With the help of Sharon and Heidi, I was able to coordinate a special day so we could spend some much needed mother-daughter bonding time.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much Sharon for inviting us into your home, showing us your secrets, teaching us how to create such cute decorations, and allowing us to bring home such yummy cupcakes.   Let’s just say that half a dozen of those cupcakes were consumed by my niece and nephew within the first hour of bringing them home.  They were THAT good!  Thank you Heidi for making us feel so relaxed during the entire portrait session and taking such beautiful photos of us.  You really captured the essence of what I wanted the day to be.  You two are truly a master of your craft! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Heidi was super quick in processing and got the photos to us within a week.  In this digital age, we hardly print photos anymore and just store them on our hard drives.  I didn’t just want to show my Mom the photos on my computer, but rather create something a bit more meaningful.  So I created a hard cover photo book via Shutterfly and surprised her with it last night.  She was elated and absolutely loved it along with all the photos!
