Back in October, my boyfriend and I decided to do an East Cost Tour.  We drove from Toronto > Quebec > New Brunswick > Prince Edward Island and back.  It was a crazy drive and something I would not suggest to do in 5 days.  We actually spent one night sleeping in our car so we could make it back in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

When we arrived at PEI, We weren’t sure on where to go for dinner.  Thanks for Tripadvisor & OpenTable, we ended up at a restaurant which is this week’s Food Friday feature.

CUISINE: Seafood

The atmosphere is absolutely stunning. It’s a small but yet chic restaurant with the bar in the centre and the kitchen off to the side. The backdrop is a mirror with the restaurant’s name and a continuous waterfall.

Our server is amazing and really made our experience at Claddagh Oyster House quite enjoyable. Being tourists, she was extremely helpful with tips and places to check out. She told us about chocolate dipped ruffled chips and where to buy the best seafood. Our time with her was so pleasant that we just had to take a photo with her for our memories!

Now to the good stuff….the FOOD!! We ordered a variety of oysters, island lobster risotto, fried island lobster and crab cakes, and a 2lb lobster. The oysters were so fresh and our server was very attentive to our likes/dislikes when helping us choose which variety to try.

As mentioned in my previous Food Friday post on Trevor Kitchen & Bar, I’m super picky when it comes to risotto. This risotto exceeded my expectations! Every bite was heavenly that I just had to close my eyes when consuming it, in order to taste all the flavours.

Island Lobster Risotto
Island lobster with white wine, scallions, parmesan cheese and fried herbs

The lobster and crab cakes are packed with lobster and crab. Not your traditional cakes where they are mainly composed of potatoes then have a dash of crab in it. Lobster and crab probably composed of 80-90% of the cake. It was mouth watering!

Fried Island Lobster & Crab Cakes
Savory potato cakes filled with PEI Lobster & crab. Served with green onion aioli, celeriac salad and tobiko roe

Now for the peace of resistance…a 2 pound lobster. Our server was so kind that she requested the chef to cut the lobster in half for us as my boyfriend and I were sharing. Normally it would come as a whole, but to help ease our sharing process, it was cut in half. Can you say that our server was super attentive to our needs!! The lobster was jammed pack with meat and was perfectly cooked. Simple steamed lobster with melted butter. DELICIOUS!!

I just had to take a “pointing” photo with the lobster to show you the true size of it.  The chef in the back does not seem too impressed with my pointing skills.

The only disappointing thing about this restaurant is that it’s only open for dinner. We had such a pleasant time that we wanted to come back for lunch but was told it’s only open in the evenings. If we were to ever go to PEI again, this would be the first restaurant we hit!
